An optical window separates environments while admitting light. A real window can introduce refraction, reflection, absorption, and dispersion depending on its material, thickness, coatings, and incidence angle.

This window is a diagram-only symbol. Adjust its size, orientation, and transparency to place it in the drawing. It never bends, blocks, or absorbs a ray, and it adds no optical path or pulse dispersion.
The example shows uninterrupted light through the symbol. Rotate it to confirm that the beam stays unchanged. To study the optical effects of a glass plate, use a rectangular freeform-glass boundary with a suitable material instead.
The visible symbol is not a traced glass plate. Its transparency is a drawing setting, not a transmission coefficient; it does not model Fresnel losses, coatings, or a change of medium.
