In the real world

An enclosure in an optical diagram can stand for a housing or a device whose internal optical train is not shown. The drawing alone does not specify whether the real device transmits, absorbs, focuses, or converts light.

In OpticalSetup

Set the label, width, height, and fill, then choose the beam behavior. Blocks beam, the default, absorbs rays at the rectangular boundary. Beam passes through adds no optical interaction.

The example places a blocking box in a laser path. Switch it to pass-through and the detector receives light again. If the box is meant to focus, split, or convert light, use the corresponding native optical elements to represent that behavior.

Simplified vs. reality

The enclosure does not simulate hidden internal components. Pass-through mode adds no optical delay or material properties; blocking mode does not model thermal loading or scattered light.
