Figure frame

Sets the exact export crop on the canvas; its border and handles never appear in the exported figure.

A live trace, not a picture of one — but this preview is not interactive. Open it in the canvas to move things, change parameters, and save or export your own version.

In the real world

A figure's crop determines which parts of a setup appear in a publication or presentation. It is a composition choice, separate from any optical aperture or physical enclosure shown in the drawing.

In OpticalSetup

Place a frame around the desired composition and resize its edges or corners. The frame controls the export bounds, while its own border and editing handles remain canvas-only. Leave room inside the crop for component names, probe readouts, and any beam endpoints you want to show.

The example frames a small lens bench. Resize the frame and export the scene to compare the crop. Light continues to propagate beyond the frame on the workbench.

Simplified vs. reality

The frame never clips traced rays or acts as an optical stop. Content outside its bounds can be omitted from the exported picture while still contributing to the simulation.
